  Foreign nationals may need a study permit to study in Canada. A person must apply for an offer letter from a Canadian Education Institution, before applying for study permit. A study permit allows a foreign national to study in Canada for the duration of study.

 Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issues Work Visas under Temporary Foreign Worker Program.

Temporary Foreign Worker Program consists : High-skilled workers

 Low-skilled workers

 Seasonal Agricultural Workers

Caregiver Program

Employers need to apply for Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) to determine if they can hire a foreign worker to fill labour or skills shortages on a temporary basis. 

 Most Foreign nationals need to apply for Temporary Visa such as Visitor Visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to come to Canada. Visitor Visa allows a person to come for holidays or to visit friends and family. Temporary resident visas are only for short period of time.

 Super Visa Program allows parents and grandparents to come to Canada for long-term. Super Visa is a multi-entry visitor visa valid for two years at a time with expiry date up to 10 years. 

If a Foreign national intends to come to Canada for Visit, Work or Study may need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to enter Canada. If a foreign national is from TRV exempt country then they will only need an ETA to travel to Canada.
